DaVinci Resolve Project

Creative Projects

DRP exports a DaVinci Resolve project. Timeline/edit information is distinct from source video/audio. A DRP alone may leave media offline; distinguish it from a media-inclusive archive.

Resolve: import a project

Check producer version and edition.

  1. Prepare a DRP copy/media and start compatible DaVinci Resolve.
  2. Import it using the supported Project Manager workflow.
  3. Inspect the intended timeline, clips, audio, color and effects.
Resolve Media Offline

Distinguish original media from proxies.

  1. Inspect original paths and current storage connections.
  2. Relink using the actual media folder.
  3. Compare image, duration and timecode for multi-camera/same-name media.
Render delivery or create an edit archive

Distinguish DRP alone from media-inclusive storage.

  1. For delivery select range, format and audio/video settings in Deliver.
  2. For migration inspect selected media-inclusive archive contents.
  3. Verify the destination project or render for missing media/effects.

Menu labels and support vary by app, OS and version. Preserve the original before making changes.

Troubleshooting by symptom

  • Media offline: verify source files and relink in a project copy.
  • Older version rejects it: compare versions/editions.
  • Audio/effects differ: check plugins, fonts, external assets and licensing.
  • Free/Studio differences: inspect required features and edition.
  • Color differs: compare timeline color management and input/output/display conditions.
  • Exported project lacks media: distinguish a regular DRP from a media-inclusive archive.

DRP → rendered video / media archive

  1. Import, relink media and inspect the timeline.
  2. Choose rendering for delivery or a media-inclusive archive for editable transfer.
  3. Inspect the full render, audio, subtitles and color; keep project, media and version information for migration.

Renaming does not create MP4. Rendering needs source media, and a finished video cannot fully reconstruct the editable project.

Keep project and media together

DRP transfers a project; list original video and related media rather than assuming they are embedded.

Watch for same-name wrong media when relinking and compare cut/audio timing against a reference render.

Production conditions at the destination

Record version, edition, plugins, fonts and color management and verify effects/color after relinking.

Handling and security

Review private media/external references; do not blindly install unfamiliar plugins to open a project.

Questions and answers

Does DRP include source video?

Check media storage/transfer separately.

Will it work immediately on another PC?

Match media, plugins and version requirements.

How do I obtain MP4?

Restore the media in Resolve and render the timeline.

Is DRP identical to a media-inclusive archive?

Their media coverage differs; inspect actual archive settings and contents.

Will colors match perfectly on another PC?

Check media, color management, effects and display; opening the project does not ensure visual equality.
