Material Exchange Format
VideoMXF is a production/broadcast wrapper with different operational patterns and codecs. OP-Atom workflows can separate media into files. Preserve camera structures and inspect audio channels, timecode, color and clip boundaries before MP4 export.

Troubleshooting by symptom
- Video only: inspect companion audio MXFs/metadata folders.
- MXF reader fails: check operational pattern and contained codec.
- Color/timing changes: compare color management, timecode and project settings.
- Silent standalone MXF: check separate OP-Atom audio and source structure.
- Only one MXF fails: compare internal codec with editor support.
- Short clip: inspect span recognition and native ingest.
MXF assets → MP4 / editing intermediate
- Import the complete assets and record required channels, color and timecode.
- Export separately for the intended use and compare full duration/audio channels.
- Compare all channels and color and retain the source folder structure.
Delivery MP4 may not retain production metadata, multichannel audio or HDR behavior; retain the MXF assets.
Handling OP1a and OP-Atom media
Some arrangements multiplex streams while others separate them; inspect recording format before declaring missing audio corruption.

Color and channels are delivery requirements
Playable media can still have mismatched color or channels; communicate recording conditions.
Preserve the source set and validate duration and sync in the viewing copy.

Questions and answers
Does every editor read MXF?
Support depends on operational pattern, codec and version.
Does one MXF include all audio?
Some workflows use separate files.
May I discard the source after MP4?
Retain complete assets for editing/metadata needs.
Is MXF one video codec?
MXF is a container for different codecs and arrangements.
Should all MXF use identical MP4 settings?
Sources differ in color, channels and frame rate; inspect requirements first.
