Compatible QuickBooks Desktop

Preserve the original and inspect a working copy in a compatible application.

  1. Choose backup restoration in Open or Restore Company.
  2. Select a QBB copy and a distinct output name/location.
  3. Check company identity and date coverage in the restored QBW.
Inspect the received file and its requirements

Establish dependencies and settings before proceeding.

  1. Check the producing year and regional edition.
  2. Confirm administrator credentials and restoration authorization.
  3. Back up the current live company separately.

Menu labels and support vary by app, OS and version. Preserve the original before making changes.

Troubleshooting by symptom

  • Ordinary opening fails: use backup restoration.
  • Version warning: compare year and regional editions.
  • Outdated content: check transaction coverage, not only file dates.
  • Name conflict: avoid replacing the existing QBW.

QBB → restored QBW

  1. Use application restoration to create a working company file.
  2. Reopen the output and check it against the preservation points in this guide before handoff.

PDF/CSV reports do not replace a restorable company backup.

Verify the backup’s time boundary

A found backup is not necessarily current. Verify identity, period and recent entries in the restored copy.
