Opening steps

Choose your environment or purpose to see its steps.

VLC or another playlist player

Preserve the original and inspect a working copy in a compatible application.

  1. Inspect references as text.
  2. Open the playlist in a compatible player.
  3. Test local items and stream URLs separately.
Inspect the received file and its requirements

Establish dependencies and settings before proceeding.

  1. Distinguish relative and absolute paths.
  2. Preserve the media directory layout.
  3. Check URLs for credentials/tokens.

Menu labels and support vary by app, OS and version. Preserve the original before making changes.

Troubleshooting by symptom

  • Fails elsewhere: look for old absolute paths.
  • Some items fail: test the media individually.
  • Garbled Japanese names: inspect encoding.
  • Stream stops: check URL expiry, network and provider.

M3U → re-saved playlist

  1. Correct references and save a separate destination playlist.
  2. Reopen the output and check it against the preservation points in this guide before handoff.

Renaming the list to MP3 does not create audio.

Move relative-path sets together

Relative references depend on the playlist location; cloud placeholders may not contain downloaded media.
