First: choose for your purpose
NUMBERS can arrange several tables on one sheet. Excel/CSV export can change their organization. Choose a format according to continued calculation, value exchange or viewing.

Troubleshooting by symptom
- Export to Excel in Numbers; renaming .numbers to .xlsx is not conversion.
- Review export settings/warnings and compare table splitting and function support.
- Check how multiple tables are exported; combining them changes boundaries.
- Sheet count changes: inspect how export settings map multiple Numbers tables into Excel.
- Formula errors: compare function/reference support; retained formulas do not guarantee identical results.
- CSV loses leading zeros: compare source text and recipient column types and avoid automatic conversion.
NUMBERS → XLSX / CSV
- Choose Excel/CSV in Export and Send or the export menu; review table-to-worksheet settings where available.
- Open the export in the receiving application and inspect totals, charts, dates and encoding.
- Inspect all tables, headers, totals, dates and leading zeros in the output.
CSV does not preserve Numbers formatting/charts. Retain the native document.
Check sheets and tables separately
A Numbers sheet can hold several tables/figures; inspect available settings for mapping them to Excel.
Compare table names, headers, references and totals; use clear names and optionally a PDF layout reference.

What CSV/PDF do not preserve
CSV is table text and does not retain charts, color or multi-table layout; verify all required tables/records.
PDF is for display, not continued calculation; retain Numbers and any required editable Excel copies.
