Choose your environment or purpose to see its steps.

Adobe Audition

Preserve the original and inspect a working copy in a compatible application.

  1. Open an SESX copy in Audition.
  2. Relink missing source files.
  3. Check tracks and routing before playback.
Inspect the received file and its requirements

Establish dependencies and settings before proceeding.

  1. Check the saved Audition version.
  2. Obtain all recordings and media folders.
  3. Check sample rate and effects.

Menu labels and support vary by app, OS and version. Preserve the original before making changes.

Troubleshooting by symptom

  • No audio: check referenced media.
  • Old SES fails: distinguish legacy SES support from SESX.
  • FX differs: compare plug-ins/settings.
  • Partial silence: inspect mute/solo and I/O.

SESX → mix audio / OMF

  1. Use mixdown for finished audio or session interchange for further editing.
  2. Reopen the output and check it against the preservation points in this guide before handoff.

Mixes lack session structure; interchange does not preserve every effect.

Deliver the session and media together

Absolute references can fail elsewhere; test a collected export in a separate folder.
