Opening steps

CLIP STUDIO PAINT: open an artwork

Open a copy of the editable source.

  1. Identify producer/version and prepare a document copy with required companions.
  2. Open the CLIP copy in compatible CLIP STUDIO PAINT.
  3. Inspect canvas dimensions, layers, text, masks and timeline when relevant.
Inspect layers and materials

Inspect editable information as well as appearance.

  1. Compare with the reference and inspect hidden layers and masks.
  2. Inspect fonts, used materials and animation range.
  3. Save a separate CLIP and reopen to verify layers.
Export images or animation

Retain editing source and rendered output.

  1. Select the export workflow for a still image or animation.
  2. For a still choose suitable format, dimensions, color and transparency.
  3. Inspect text, edges, transparency and relevant frame count in another application.

Menu labels and support vary by app, OS and version. Preserve the original before making changes.

Troubleshooting by symptom

  • Another app rejects it: check CLIP support or export a viewing image from the producer.
  • Cannot find it: distinguish app projects, cloud storage and exported device files.
  • Export differs: check visible layers, region, resolution and color profile.
  • JPEG loses layers: preserve a separate editable CLIP.
  • Transparency becomes white: choose a format supporting transparency and inspect export/rendering.
  • Text changes elsewhere: check fonts, line breaks and widths.

CLIP → PNG / JPEG / PSD

  1. Save the CLIP original, then select an appropriate flattened image export.
  2. For editable exchange use a supported format such as PSD and check layers/rendering in the recipient’s app.
  3. Inspect export dimensions, color, transparency, text and cropping against the editable source.

PNG/JPEG lose editable layers; PSD may not transfer CLIP-specific features equivalently.

Editable CLIP versus a rendered image

CLIP retains editable layers; flattened delivery images do not retain equivalent structure.

Animation projects need timeline/range checks; distinguish still export from animation delivery.

Checking appearance elsewhere

Check fonts, materials and version and open the transferred copy; include a rendered reference when helpful.

Inspect text/edges at original and intended sizes and test transparency against another background.

Questions and answers

Can everyone view the CLIP alone?

Check their app or include a rendered image.

Does PNG preserve layers?

Ordinary PNG export does not preserve editable layers.

Is the mobile gallery already an external file?

Distinguish in-app storage from external saving.

Can I rename CLIP to PNG?

Use the application’s actual image export; renaming does not change structure.

Does PSD preserve every layer property?

Check layers, text, effects and appearance after reloading because feature support can differ.
