Troubleshooting by symptom
- Placement differs: compare video/script resolution and installed fonts.
- Visible override tags: check ASS support and subtitle mode.
- SRT save refused: review unsupported tags/features and use an export workflow.
- Wrong size/position: inspect reference resolution, styles and overrides.
- Only some lines differ: inspect overrides and font availability.
- Styling lost in SRT: inspect supported feature transfer.
ASS → SRT / rendered subtitles
- For plain cues, export SRT and review style handling.
- To fix appearance in authorized video, render subtitles on a copy with compatible tools and verify placement/timing.
- Check long cues, edge placement and fonts at the destination.
SRT loses much styling/position data; burned-in subtitles cannot be switched off or removed as a separate track.
Styles versus inline overrides
Inline tags can override a line’s assigned font, placement or color.
