Troubleshooting by symptom
- Format failure: check version and ASCII/binary support.
- Wrong rig orientation: inspect axes, units and bone conversion.
- Missing animation/color: inspect exported actions, baking and texture paths.
- Tiny/sideways model: inspect units and axis mapping such as Forward/Up.
- White materials: inspect paths, accompanying textures and shader support.
- Static pose: inspect actions, skeleton settings and exported frame range.
FBX → GLB / BLEND
- Validate rigs, motion and materials before exporting.
- Reimport and compare frame range, scale and textures.
- Reimport into another scene and inspect dimensions, materials, poses and animation range.
Constraints, shaders and motion may not transfer identically.
Inspect geometry, rig and animation separately
A correct mesh does not establish correct bones or animation. Inspect representative poses and motion ranges.
Distinguish baking constraint effects into keys from preserving constraints themselves.

Include assets and conversion settings
Document units, axes, frame rate, FBX version and required images for the recipient.
Keep the native project separate from the exchange copy and verify reimport before delivery.

Related-format differences
| Format | Main role | Selection notes |
|---|---|---|
| FBX | Scene / rig / motion exchange | Inspect importer differences |
| BLEND | Blender editing source | Retains native information |
| GLTF / GLB | 3D delivery / display | Supported representation differs |
Handling and security
Review asset rights, use trusted importers and avoid executing unfamiliar companion scripts.
Questions and answers
Does every FBX contain animation?
It depends on exported contents/settings.
Does Blender open every FBX?
Variant and feature restrictions apply.
Does OBJ preserve the rig?
Ordinary OBJ does not retain it equivalently.
Is FBX equivalent to a Blender project?
It is exchange data; nodes, constraints and editing structure may not transfer identically.
Do included textures guarantee identical materials?
Shader/parameter interpretation can differ despite included images; test in the recipient environment.
Format facts: name, steward and MIME type

- Filmbox (FBX)
- Steward / specification
- Autodesk
- MIME type
- Depends on the producer or server; an extension alone does not establish a MIME type.
