Outlook for Mac with OLM import/export support

Preserve the original and inspect a working copy in a compatible application.

  1. Open Import in a compatible Outlook for Mac edition.
  2. Select the OLM archive.
  3. Inspect local imported folders and item counts.
Inspect the received file and its requirements

Establish dependencies and settings before proceeding.

  1. Check OLM import/export availability in your edition.
  2. Check which item types were selected for export.
  3. Preserve source Outlook data and the original OLM.

Menu labels and support vary by app, OS and version. Preserve the original before making changes.

Troubleshooting by symptom

  • No menu: check edition, license and management policy.
  • Not in Inbox: inspect local imported folders.
  • No contacts/calendar: check export item selection.
  • Cannot open on Windows: choose a supported migration route rather than renaming to PST.

OLM → compatible Outlook import

  1. Import into a supported Mac edition first, then plan supported export/sync for the destination.
  2. Reopen the output and check it against the preservation points in this guide before handoff.

Import alone does not necessarily restore every item to the server.

Archive versus synchronized account

Selected archive items do not imply restoration of account settings, rules, signatures or the whole environment.
